A Journey Together: The Tale of Al & Dina
In the fall of 1978, Al and Dina were married, embarking on a journey together in Austin, Texas. A year later, their sense of adventure led them to make a life-changing move to Northern California, where Al reconnected with Sonny Madrid, the owner of Lowrider Magazine. This meeting marked the start of an exciting entrepreneurial era for the couple, with Al joining Sonny’s team.
Harnessing their passion and creativity, Al and Dina launched UNO Magazine, aimed at the Hispanic market. They then expanded into the design world with Park Avenue Design, a graphic design company. By 1988, their vision and hard work led them to purchase Lowrider Magazine, transforming it into the top automotive publication in the country. After nearly a decade of success, they sold the magazine in 1997 to a larger publisher.
Longing for a quieter, more nature-filled life, Al and Dina relocated to Sonoma County, where they embraced a new challenge. In 1999, Al planted a Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard on their 40-acre estate. What began as a hobby soon became something special—Al enrolled in viticulture classes at Santa Rosa Junior College to master the art of winemaking.
As their vineyard thrived, they sold most of their grapes to local producers while Al kept a small portion for personal winemaking. The wine quickly became a favorite among family and friends.
Despite their many business ventures, Al and Dina always prioritized family, instilling the values of hard work and determination in their children. In 2012, Francisco and Monica Lopez decided to take what had started as a hobby and created the Aldina Vineyards label. Every bottle reflects the passion and dedication their parents poured into everything they touched.
Al & Dina’s spirit shines through with every sip. We hope you enjoy our family's labor of love!
