Harvest is Here

It is our favorite time of year again- Harvest Season! Many wineries throughout the county have already begun their harvest depending on their varietals grown, however we are patiently waiting and closely monitoring our estate Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard. 2019 has been an optimal growing season, with a winter full of rain, cool spring and relatively warm summer.

It was late June, when our pollinated flowers dropped their petals and tiny green grapes began to grow. Veraison came to an end in late August, however we still had green in our clusters because of higher elevation and marine influence in Fountaingrove District AVA. In early September, we dropped fruit to ensure we removed any non-maturing clusters, leaving the best quality fruit on the vines. Starting in October, winemaker, Belen Ceja, will be monitoring the grapes weekly for their acidity, flavors, and brix levels. Once our grapes reach full maturity and are well balanced we will be hand-picking the fruit off the vines.

Despite the extremely unfortunate loss of our estate and partial loss of our vineyard from the Tubbs fire that occurred in 2017, we are still maintaining strength, hope, and dedication to our vineyard and are expecting a slightly above average yield this year. We are able to continue to grow and move forward because of our consistent determination and hard work. We are immensely grateful for all of the support we receive from those around us.
